A New Leader |DoW Leafclan assignment|

Gracefuldancer left her ceremony excited. She'd just become a warrior. She absolutely loved her warrior name, she though it fit her so perfectly. No matter how much she tried to calm down, the excitement came back ten times as strong as the last time. Although, it was very sad to think that she'd no longer get to walk around with a mentor talking about the other clans. She'd really loved her mentor Leafbreeze. She'd always seemed so wise. She knew so much about all the different clans. She used to feel bad for her, but now knowing her better, she didn't see why she used to do that. 'On the plus side, I'll get my own apprentice soon enough!' she though cheerfully to herself. At the ceremony her Aunt, Shingingheart, had been declared the temporary leader of the clan. It was such a sudden announcement. Sure, their leader Sparklestar's disappearance was strange. Nobody knew where she'd gone or why she had left. The only source they had was the kit's dream from Starclan. Though Sparkelstar had always seemed a little crazy, always talking, which often seemed like arguing, to herself. None the less, Gracefuldancer was a little mad at their leader for leaving them. She understood that their leader would be back when the clan truly needed her. But wasn't she always supposed to be there for them? 'I mean yeah, she's coming back but, still.' Gracefuldancer thought to herself. She'd never know her that well anyways, so it wasn't like she deeply missed her. The only time she'd really interacted with her was during her apprentice ceremony a couple of moons back. She just didn't want her clan to fall apart. All the cats knew what happened to Frozenclan, and they all didn't want that to ever to happen again. 'Our clan won't be like them.' she thought, 'That was totally different from our situation. Though it is still strange that she left.' Gracefuldancer simply liked the way things were when Sparklestar had been leader, she didn't want much to change. She knew that her aunt would make a great leader, she knew what Spraklestar would want the clan to be like. Gracefuldancer paced around the camp still pondering all that she'd been told at the ceremony. She really wanted to talk to someone else about all the going-ons. She eventually saw a group of other cats and recognized Oakpaw among the group of cats who looked to be apprentices. Gracefuldancer called out to the younger tom, "Hey Oakpaw! Come 'ere! I wanna talk to you!"
"Coming" he replied. He mewed a short goodbye to his apprentice friends and trotted over to the new warrior. Once he was in front of her he sat down and got comfortable. "What's the matter Grace?" the brown and black colored tom asked her.
"Oh... Nothing really. I just wanted to talk to someone about some stuff." she mewed
"What kind of stuff?"
"You know what kind of stuff I mean!" she mewed a little annoyed, sometimes she swore he did that just to push her buttons. She took a deep breathe and carried on. "Sorry I lashed out at you. I meant what you thought of Sparklestar leaving and the new leader." she mewed in reply curious to get his opinion on the subject.
"Sorry" he muttered before beginning to speak yet again. "Oh.. Well... I don't know. I've never really talked to the old leader, since you know- I just got here a little bit ago, or the new one. So, I guess I don't really know what to think. It's still all so new to me. Like the whole Shiningheart's the new leader until Sparklestar returns. What if the kit was wrong, when will she come back, who's our deputy now?!" he asked then shortly after answered his own questions. "I don't know! It's probably just 'cause I've only been here about a moon. That's all. What about you?"
Gracefuldancer sighed. She'd hoped he'd have a better opinion on such an important subject. "Don't worry, I don't quite get it either and I'm older, and have been here longer than you have. She didn't say anything about that. All she said was that senior warriors and elders would help her decide things. But anyway, I guess I'm really nervous about Sparklestar leaving. I hope the clan as a whole does alright. You know I just don't want another Frozenclan thing to happen, but this time it's us stuck in the blizzard -though I don't think we could actually have a blizzard here, but I'm getting off topic. However, I am really glad that Shingingheart is the temporary leader. She is my Aunt after all so it would be kind of mean not to think she'd do amazing. But that's not the only reason I think she'll do just fine. She's been and excellent deputy all this time, as long as I can remember she's been the deputy and nothing major has happened." she replied to the tom. Gracefuldancer didn't know what else to say Oakpaw didn't seem like he was about to say anything as he just stared at her, appearing to try and taken in all of the information she had just said to him. "Well I think I'm going to go congratulate our new leader. Would you care to come along?" She mewed.
"Nah, I think I'll just stay here, maybe go out and hunt or train or something."
"Alrighty then." She mewed as the turned and walked off towards where her aunt stood looking over the clan leaving Oakpaw to stand alone. As she continued to walk forward, she repeatedly glanced over her shoulder to make sure the brown and black apprentice was alright. She didn't want to have made him upset or angry with her sudden decision. By her second glance back, she saw that he'd returned to his group of warrior friends. Once she was in earshot of Shiningheart she mewed, "Congrats! I'm really glad you're the new leader. Well temporarily that is. It's too bad Indigopaw didn't get to hear the news since she's with Sweetrose."
